The scene of the crime

Last night we had some vandals visit the front yard.

It's the first time in 8 years of decorating the house that we've had anything like this happen.

I saw it when I was leaving for the grocery store this morning. A few things were broken, a few things were stolen and we found a few things a couple of houses down the street, clearly thrown away as they were leaving.

It really makes me mad, especially because it happened late enough that it wasn't done by some little kids. It also makes me mad because I was up late last night and thought I heard something but didn't go downstairs to check because we live on a busy enough street that there are noises all the time (and honestly it didn't enter my mind that something like this would happen).

The plan for today was to bring more decorations out but I spent the first few hours putting the graveyard back together before bringing more stuff out. I have to say it wasn't as fun as it usually is- with every new decoration I placed in the yard I thought- will this be broken or stolen?

I hope not. I hope it was just a one time thing. But I've already noticed myself wondering what each thud outside is.
